Beau Liam got off to a quick start this year, winning the first three races for Hall of Fame coach Steve Asmussen. His debut was on May 29 at Churchill Downs made a 7 1/2 run, going six distances in a time of 1:08.62, representing the fastest recorded speed of any woman at the farthest distance in race history. His first win got him an equivalent Speed Number of 115 and in comparison, his Ragozin Table number is 5 3/4 in the race faster than the winning number in this year’s Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve (G1).
Beau Liam completes six hooks in 1:08.62 in his first race
In his second start, Beau Liam earned 113 ESF and 106 Beyer Speed Figures doing a well-publicized seven-part stipend racing his nose at Racecourse Saratoga. Beau Liam entered the Ack Ack Stakes (G3) at Churchill as the 2-5 favorite. He finished second by some time ahead of the graded multi-stakes winner Plainsman , who completed the mileage in 1:33.85. The foal was pointed towards the Cigar Mile presented by NYRA Bets (G1) when a training injury forced him to retire. He won three of his four starts and made $229,888.
Stonestreet Farm offered Beau Liam at the 2019 Keeneland Sale in September through Gainesway Shipment, where his final bid was $385,000 – the highest price ever on any of our Maps.
