Earlier this week, Rockstar released a big free update for Grand Theft Auto Online. For the most part, it focuses on improving and expanding what’s already in the game. But the update also includes a bunch of new missions related to secret government operations and conspiracies, and this new campaign ends with what’s easy. GTA OnlineThe latest update of, “Criminal enterprise,” is a big deal, giving the game a more modern feel while also making in-game monetization easier (and more fun). It’s a solid update, even nerf the legendary OP jet motorcycle and added the ability to run in the casino. While it added a really bad semi-automatic rifle which no one likes, it’s a small bright spot in a great patch.
Also added is a new campaign that includes several IAA related missions (GTACIA’s version) fights to stop a wealthy family from controlling the planet’s oil prices. Don’t trust them too much, because they want to use the technology the family is using so they can control the prices themselves.
But what I and many others didn’t expect is that this spy-themed thriller full of car chases and gunfights ends with a truly terrifying and terrifying game-like horror mission. fear. I don’t want to spoil it for those who haven’t played, so here’s your spoiler alert!
In the final mission, the IAA takes you to a bunker last seen in “Doomsday Heist“updated. Turns out the super AI developed and placed here isn’t completely wiped out by the authorities when you raid this place, and that’s how a wealthy family can control the price of oil — by using Using a clone of this AI (Just nod and pretend this makes sense…) Inside the bunker the power went out, and lurking in the hallways and surrounding corners were “sleeping” robots with faces People. These are the rogues from the Apocalypseand they’re left here to hibernate because apparently, the IAA is really bad at cleaning up its mess.
These dozing ships appear to be breathing, or at least make a breathing-like noise. When you walk in the dark, leaning on the flashlight, these will sometimes make other noises and even twitch. I even swear that one of them moved when I wasn’t looking. Rockstar also makes sure to place these fearsome rogues in specific locations where you’ll encounter them or will hear them as you explore somewhere else, looking for a fuse to turn the power back on.
I won’t give any prizes for guessing what happens when you turn the power back on and start breaking into the place: Shocker, all those creepy robot bastards wake up and start coming to you. But after going through them all in 20 minutes in the dark, at least you know how many people are waiting, and how long you have to walk to get out of the bunker. Luckily, I took my giant Gatling laser gun with me and briefly did all of them before escaping and completing the mission.
Like me, the other players involved in this final quest didn’t know what to expect and Many people have shared stories online of the how scary is that, with one player assuming they will have a hard time sleeping right now. Others have shared How tense do they feel in the dark, try to avoid the robots for fear that touching will trigger nasty triggers. Also note that one of the fuses you have to find hide behind some breakable boxesThis is a very popular gameplay mechanic for a GTA Online mission. Many players said they spent a long time just hanging around in dark corridors, trying to find the last fuse to get out of the nightmare.
I love when Rockstar experiment and get creative with GTA Online mission. Almost a decade after its release, it’s a bit boring to drive around and shoot only a few people.
