Half-Life 2 Mod Swaps Alyx for Star Fox Adventures’ Krystal and Her Original Voice Actress
One Half life 2 The mod is in the works that not only swaps Star Fox Adventures’ Alyx Vance for Krystal, but it also has all of Alyx’s lines replaced with Krystal’s original voice actress Estelle Ellis.
According to the report of polygon, Gagnetar made this mod 4 years ago when he replaced Alyx for Krystal, but now he’s taken it a step further by bringing Ellis out of retirement to record brand new lines for the project.
Gagnetar shared an early look at the mod with the voices of Krystal and Ellis in Kleiner’s Lab of Half-Life 2 and it shows how the character created for GameCube’s Star Fox Adventures fits into this new universe.
On a Krystal’s fan site, Gagnetar said he’s planning to release the full mod on September 23, 2022, which is the 20th anniversary of Star Fox Adventures. It is also confirmed that some lines were rewritten to help Krystal “fit in” more with the world.
As for how he made this happen, he shared in the YouTube comments that he’s been talking to Ellis for years and now he’s “decided to just buy her a decent microphone.” and we’ve been working ever since.”
Ellis also voiced Queen Earthwalker and Mother Thorntail in Star Fox Adventures and appeared in Perfect Dark Zero and Grabbed by the Ghoulies. 2005’s Perfect Dark Zero was her last voice acting work.
Star Fox Adventures was released in 2002 and remains a divisive entry in the Star Fox series. In ours Reviews of Star Fox Adventures, we said it “comes as a truly brilliant 3D action adventure for GameCube owners. It’s an obvious Zelda rip and not quite as good, but that’s okay in the book by us. me because Rare still does it very well.”
