How to Make Slack Look and Feel Like Discord
Discord is joy. Usually not. I didn’t say Slack no to try on to have fun, because it doesAll the clones in the app, for example, are like a comedy—but that doesn’t hide it, at its core, Slack is an app for work and Discord is an app for going. play with your friends.
So it makes sense that a longtime Discord user forced to use Slack for one reason or another might find things a little more boring. Sadly, I can’t change this core fact, but here are a few tips to make Slack feel a little more like Discord.
Switch to Dark Mode
First things first: We need to make Slack darker. Click your profile picture in the top right corner, then click Interests. From here, go to Topic and choose Dark. Alternatively, if you’re the type to switch back and forth between system-wide light and dark schemes, you can choose to have Slack respect that setting.
This isn’t perfect — Slack’s dark theme is enveloping black while Discord’s dark theme is gray. However, if you are used to Discord, this will feel a lot more comfortable.
More Discord color schemes
While you’re setting Slack to Dark Mode, I highly recommend editing your sidebar theme as well. Scroll down from the Dark Mode settings and you’ll find a variety of themes to choose from, as well as the ability to create custom themes. I spent some time replicating Discord’s exact color scheme. Here are the codes that you can paste into Slack:
