Seven tourists were killed and 13 others injured in a massive avalanche in the northeastern Indian state of Sikkim, local police said on Tuesday.
Several survivors are in critical condition and rescue operations are ongoing, senior police official Tenzing Loden Lepcha told CNN.
The avalanche struck near the Nathu La Pass and hit a road connecting Nathu La with the state capital Gangtok.
Lepcha told CNN that avalanches are unusual for this time of year and are blamed on unseasonal rain and snow in the area.
