A BJP MLA in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor that had called to inaugurate a 7km road built at a cost of Rs 1.16 crore came to a standstill when a coconut breaking ritual instead broke the road. Street.
An angry Suchi Mausam Chaudhary, MLA from Bijnor Sadar constituency, waited on the spot for three hours for a team of officers to come and take sugar samples for investigation.
She promised to take tough action against those responsible.
“The irrigation department is building a road for Rs 1.16 crore. The road is 7.5 km long. I was asked to inaugurate the road. When I got there and tried to break a coconut, the coconut. not broken. But is of the road that has appeared,” she told reporters.
“I checked and found the construction was flawed. The building was not up to standard. We stopped the inauguration. I spoke to the District Court. The DM formed a three-member team. The material was sent out for sampling and we were there for almost three hours,” said Ms. Chaudhary.
“There will be action against those responsible… they will face severe action. The DM has assured me that the road will be built to standards,” she added.
The incident comes as a major embarrassment to the BJP government less than three months before the state elections, in which effective governance and the absence of corruption were the main goal of Minister Yogi Adityanath.
