Jane Fonda Discusses Bulimia Struggles on ‘Call Her Daddy’
Jane Fonda Is one Academy Award-win hollywood legend, who has had a career spanning decades, but she’s not immune to the pressures of staying in camera-ready physique, she revealed this week on call dad audio files.
The 80 for Brady the star explained that in her twenties, she suffered from “very, very bad” bulimia. “I have lived a secret life,” Fonda told host Alex Cooper. “I was very, very unhappy. I don’t think I’ll live past 30. I don’t go out. I hardly date because I’m unhappy and I have an eating disorder. And then I’m also making movies that I don’t really like.”
Fonda also describes the emotion bulimia has caused her. She said: “It takes days and then at least a week to get over a binge. “It’s not just fatigue. You become angry. You become hostile. All the trouble I got into was because of that anger and hostility.”
Fonda says that it wasn’t until her forties that she was able to rid herself of her insatiable appetite for food and purification. “I have lived a very full life. I had kids, I had a husband — I had two husbands at the time — I was doing politics, I was doing all these things,” Fonda said. “My life is important, but I am less and less able to continue it. And so I just went cold turkey and it was really tough. But the reality is, the more distance you can put between you and the last drunk, the better. It just gets easier and easier.”
Fonda has spoken out about her struggles with eating disorders in the past. “If I had to do it again and it was today, I’d probably be on 12 Steps or something, but I don’t know what it is,” the actress said on CBS.
