John Force wins NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at Concord
CONCORD, NC – John Force won the K NHRA Circuit Nationwide Race Sunday at zMAX Dragway for his 155th Funny Car win.
The 72-year-old force beat Robert Hight, Ron Capps and Mike McIntire Jr in the final in 3,914 seconds at 328.66 mph in a Chevrolet Camaro SS.
The force qualified number 1 with a record run and set a track speed record of 335.07 mph in the first qualifying round.
“Everything just seems to happen where you’re destined to win,” said the 16-time season champion. “It was amazing. On some days, miracles happened. Everything went as planned and we were able to win the race. It was fate and it was a race. Great weekend for my team. To finally get a win this year gives me a lot of confidence.”
Mike Salinas won the Top Fuel and Steve Johnson in the Pro Stock Motorcycle.
Salinas ran to her second win of the season and fifth overall, running 3,708 at 330.47 in the final. Johnson took his second straight win, reaching the final with 6,740 at 200.65 over Suzuki.
