Lexus reveals more about rival Tesla Model X

Is this the future of big Lexus SUVs?

Lexus has revealed additional images of the Electrified SUV concept after the first time reveal it among 15 other electric concepts from Toyota and Lexus in December 2021.

However, it has not given any specifications yet.

The concept points to a potential production three-row electric SUV that could rise above the upcoming two-row RZ EV, is set to launch in 2023.

The latest images show the side and rear three-quarters of the Electrified SUV concept.

Viewed from the front, the Electrified SUV concept has a striking front fascia with a blocked grille and linear headlamp details.

There is a high but exceptionally straight ring line, while the roof is not as tapered as on the RZ.

While the roof still looks a bit sloping down, this more boxy rear suggests a possible third row of seats. Lexus has yet to reveal the interior of the concept.

There are also door handles, a camera on the side of the mirror, and a charging port near the front wheel.

At the rear, the Electrified SUV concept has a taillight bar that not only extends the full width of the vehicle but almost touches the rear door.

There is a sculpted rear bumper, as well as a rear diffuser that matches the front trim with vertical slats.

Lexus has yet to confirm whether it plans to introduce an electric SUV above the RZ.

Currently, the top of the Lexus SUV line is 5 seats RX and its elongated seven-seat RX L sibling, seven-seater Toyota LandCruiser Prado-based GX is not sold here and LX Top SUVs offer up to seven seats.

The SUV range can also be supported by an additional model, with Lexus having the filed for trademark names TX350 and TX500h. They are rumored to be applied to a three-row crossover that will replace the RX L.

Immediately after these images were posted, Lexus also revealed more images of the car Electrified sedan and Electrified sport concepts, which seem to hint at electric successors to the current IS sedan and the departed LFA supercar, respectively.

From 2035 Lexus will only sell electric cars (EV) globally. By 2030, Lexus will stop selling vehicles powered by internal combustion engines in regions such as North America, Europe, and China.

This new EV era will begin with the Lexus RZ, which is expected to make its global debut in 2022. The RZ is built on the same e-TNGA chassis as the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra intersect.

Lexus is not alone in committing to the end times for vehicles powered by internal combustion engines.

Vehicles like Cadillac and Volvo will go all-electric by 2030, and Genesis has committed to selling only EVs and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCEVs) by the same year.

Audi has committed to having only EVs by 2033 in all regions except Chinawhile Mercedes-Benz says it will switch to pure electric but only “where market conditions allow”.
