Over the past few months, a lot of people have been sharing memes related to the terrible superhero movie Morbius, which stars actor method note Jared Leto like a live vampire or something… look, I haven’t seen the movie, okay? Either way, all of these memes, jokes, and ha-online are fun, but things are spiraling out of control. Sony — can seeget all new interests in Morbius and all things morbin’ — has now returned the film to theaters. What did we do?
Morbius was released back in April Very negative reviews. For those who don’t know, it’s a Sony Marvel movie, not a generic MCU movie. This means it can tease connections with more successful, more famous MCU moviesbut will likely never be allowed to actually partake in all of the money-making pleasures of Iron Man and Dr. Strange.
Earning only about $170 million at the box office, Morbius was supposed to hide at night to die in a field, or whatever happens with failed comic books. But the future Oscar winner received a second breeze when it released on digital streaming, then Morbius The meme exploded in large part thanks to a Twitch channel has started streaming movies 24/7. Thanks to the movie’s surge on Twitch since at least May 24, a Morbius memes have started to make their way into the internet. There is hilarious Twitter user Rama_Firmansya “History of Morbius Photo manipulation” a timeline spanning 2016 to 2022 that charts our progress from “hugh mungus” to “betweenus” to “morbius”. There’s a bunch of box art memes of Morbius as one Nintendo DS, Switchand Wii game — a trilogy, if you will. Damn, I even found out a whole Twitch channel called morbing_man was just streaming Morbius meme before the company deleted it into space. Memes are everywhere at this point, like a virus. Like a… creature?
And all of this led to something very strange. Sony, seemingly reacting to all these newly discovered rumors and social media, has returned the film to theaters. Like reported by Exhibitor Relations on TwitterSony has confirmed that Morbius will back to 1,037 theaters this weekend, more than two months after it first opened. And I found out at least a few people bought tickets.
Sony has yet to confirm why the film is returning to so many theaters so long after its initial release. It’s safe to assume it has something to do with the sudden increase in online chats, but you never know. Maybe Sony really likes it Morbius and want to share it with everyone.

Unfortunately, all this brouhaha could lead to an even darker future in which Morbius gets a sequel. And sure, we’re all having a good laugh at the “ Morbin ‘ Time“But it’s time to stop. The world does not need to give possible cult leader Jared Leto a successful C-rated superhero series, let alone more money. Please, stop so much, folks. Still have time. We can still stop Sony from producing Morbius 2.
Maybe you thought it wouldn’t be that bad? Maybe you even liked the first movie? But if we do get a sequel, you better believe Sony will make the people behind it cram memes, inside jokes, references to existing memes, and god forbid, more morbin ‘.
But again, does that also sound… awesome?
Okay, never mind, I’m in. Break your brains and give us a horrible, meme-filled sequel that is too late, completely misses the trend and ends up being a wild performer. Probably that will eventually kill the living vampire, and with any luck, Leto’s career.
