Neighbors of Representative Lauren Boebert (R-CO) called 911 twice on August 4 asking the sheriff to respond to their neighborhood, where they said Republican lawmaker husband Jayson drove past a mailbox and was threatening threaten them.
In two 911 calls obtained by The Denver Post, a neighbor could be heard yelling at Jayson while simultaneously trying to explain the situation to the dispatcher, saying, “It’s Jayson, Lauren Boebert’s goofy husband. He’s running through my inbox right now.”
“Stop, you bastard! Get out of here,” the neighbor heard shouting at another person, probably Jayson. “Come on man. What are you doing? What did we do wrong?”
“Something is about to happen here,” he told the dispatcher after she redirected him to talk to her.
Both 911 callers said the incident began when Boebert’s son was racing on the streets of their neighborhood in a Razor Dune Buggy. When neighbors asked him to slow down, he told them, “Damn it.”
“It’s the Boeberts, if you know who the Boeberts are,” one woman told the dispatcher. “I need the sheriff here.”
Another person can be heard saying in the background “Our wonderful Congresswoman.”
“He was speeding down the street, running everywhere, just passing his property,” she told the 911 dispatcher. “He was flying at 50 miles an hour and this is a residential street, have children. We tried to stop him and he just annoyed us and walked away. “
Later, the neighbor who yelled at Jayson said the man was driving down the street screaming about someone trying to punch his son, which the neighbor said no one did.
The neighbor said: “This guy is not like the card, and this guy is so unreasonable.” “He’s just chest to face, face to face, looking to fight.”
When asked if anyone had a weapon, the neighbor scoffed and said, “I’m sure he’s loaded into the hilt.”
“Do you know who his wife is? Lauren Boebert. She loaded the ammo. They all have guns,” he told the dispatcher. “I don’t know if anyone had a gun at them.”
The dispatcher also asked if anyone was drunk, to which the neighbor replied, “Maybe Jayson was drunk. You can get him for a DUI, he just needs to drive down here. “
Attempts to contact Jayson Boebert for comments were unsuccessful.
Although the dispatcher sent staff to the scene, the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office ultimately decided to let the neighbors resolve the dispute, saying that everyone “agreed to work as customers.” each other’s neighbors. No charge. There is no further action.”
When faced with 911 calls with evidence of possible drunken driving, speeding, destruction of property and threats to harm others, the sheriff’s office remained tight-lipped about the incident.
The leader of the American Muckrakers political action committee then decided to address the matter by asking Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser, the local district attorney, and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation to look into Boeberts’ relationship with Van. Garfield County Sheriff’s Office.
“This is clearly a serious situation as there were two 911 calls, five deputies and at least four families involved,” the PAC chief wrote in an email requesting an investigation.
