Ryan Garcia will tune in January before the Tank Davis match
Via Adam Baskin: Ryan Garcia announced on Saturday that he will be taking part in a January prep match like Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis to get ready for their big battle on April 15.
With huge amounts of money at stake for the April match, Ryan (23-0, 19 KOs) won’t be able to take on an opponent of his caliber capable of engulfing his clash with Tank Davis.
As many boxing fans know, Ryan’s promoters at Golden Boy Promotions made it VERY easy with him, uniting him with the opposition mostly in moderation during his six-year professional career.
To be fair, Golden Boy matched Ryan with similar Jaime Munguia, giving him good protection from the lions in the 135 lb.
Perhaps the best name on Ryan’s résumé is 35-year-old Luke Campbell, who softened up to Vasily Lomachenko by the time Kingry confronted him.
It would be great if Ryan went up against a good opponent for his tune match in January because Tank picked an excellent tuning opponent in Hector Luis Garcia.
If Ryan chooses a weaker opponent for his warm-up, he will look like the well-protected boxer on social media that many boxing fans consider him.
Tanks are very emotional huh 🤔

Good picks for Ryan’s tuning fight:
- Michel Rivera
- Frank Martin
- George Kambosos Jr.
- Steve Spark
- Arnold Barboza
- Richardson Hitchins
- Isaac Cru
- Gary Antuanne Russell
- Shakur Stevenson
- William Zepeda
- Edwin De Los Santos
- Jose Ramirez
Ryan Garcia: “I will also be back in January. Keep stable.”
Ray Jackson: “Fight with George Kambosos to tune in for you.”
Tank Davis: “He will sleep with him. Laugh out loud!”
Ryan Garcia: “You’re right. I will sleep him.
Tank Davis: “Shut up, you bastard!”
Ryan Garcia – “I would beat him pretty easily”
Ryan Garcia told Stephen A’s: “He has to be a good boxer at this point to get where he is. First, about Gervonta Davis. “He has to know somewhat of what he’s doing in there. He can’t just be a slugger.
Ryan continued his assessment of Gervonta’s skill: “Although I would say that every time he tries to hit the box, the rounds don’t go his way.
“Yeah, he hit Rolly Romero and caught him with one shot, but in my opinion he [Tank] didn’t win that match, nor did he win a couple of matches where he ended up being knocked out, which is amazing for him.
“I just think he met the wrong guy, and I’m just a completely different boxer from any guy he’s ever fought with. This is what makes the fight interesting. Two great fighters in the ring, and you never know what will happen.
“In my heart, I’m going to beat him, and I’m going to beat him pretty easily,” Ryan said of Tank.
