Despite the fact that our weekend wasn’t the most exciting, I still have something interesting to share with you today! That’s actually some news that we’ve kept under wraps for quite some time and I look forward to finally filling it out with you.
Saturday
We started our Saturday morning with a lot of fort building work followed by a drive to the largest fort our family is currently building…
A new house!
This has been going on for over a year and we are incredibly grateful and excited to build a home that we hope will be our “forever home”. Through the construction process we learned that many people say they are building their “forever home” and it rarely happens that way but we put a lot of thought and planning into the house. this home to make it a place that we think will grow with us through life stages. I know life is crazy unpredictable but we love North Carolina, our friends, our community, our work, and our boys’ school, so we’re going to give our best for life. live this.
I could say a lot about the house and the whole building process but since I’m not sure how interested you are in the content of the house, I will just stop there unless you have questions and wanted me to share more about how things are going. We’ve spent countless hours building this home and have attended millions of home-related meetings over the past year, so there’s a lot to talk about. I know that while I devour home content and love interior design blogs, it’s not for everyone, so let me know!

Having never built a house before, it’s been a huge learning curve but we love our builder and Ryan and I feel so lucky to be able to do this together. Right now, we’re hoping to be able to move this summer but we know we shouldn’t hold our breath on a set timeline because things are going so well. This home has been such an important part of our lives and includes so many appointments and meetings and I’m so glad it’s all there now! If you have any questions about the house, I can always put together a Q&A post of everything, so let me know. I just don’t want to overshare if there’s little interest.
After a quick drive past the house to check things out, we drove into town for another morning at Discovery Place Science.

Can you tell us this is an activity we should do in cold winter days? The boys loved it and they were all at a great age to explore different areas. Plus, the fact that the neighborhood site has a mini aquarium inside was a huge hit for our crew.
The boys had a ball running all over the place until Rhett’s nap time got to us and we went home to have lunch and sleep for Rhett Roo. We let Ryder settle in his room for some quiet time and then Ryan caught Chase fishing while I ordered paint samples for our in-house wardrobe and browsed Pinterest for inspiration. for tiles for bathrooms and laundry rooms as we have an upcoming meeting tile selection. Just one of the billions of decisions we feel like making for this home! Plus, for anyone who’s ever remodeled, built a home, or updated the design of a room, we can agree that searching the internet for inspirational home photos is where time goes. passed? I can find myself deep on Pinterest searching for inspiration for that perfect bathroom paint color for so long.
The rest of our afternoon passed in a jumble of kids activities, picking up food for dinner and curling up on the Encanto for movie night. Have you seen this movie yet? Although we’ve been listening to the soundtrack for a while, it’s our first time seeing the movie and I think it’s so cute! It’s definitely the best animated movie I’ve seen in recent years. The music is incredibly catchy and the older kids seem to enjoy the special power of the family. Sure, Chase’s wheels are more at home than Ryder’s at this age, but both boys seem to like it. And Rhett absolutely loves playing with all of the older kids’ toys while they’re distracted with the movie. Ha!
Sunday
Sunday morning begins with a day of fun at the family park!
We take the boys to Hope Park in Mooresville and it’s one of our favorites because it has great play areas for toddlers and older kids. Chase is still one hundred percent obsessed with running and there’s an outline of a little track around the playground so we’ve raced around it a million times. For any moms out there who agonize about not being able to stick to the fitness routines we used to have in order to get in front of the kids, just remember that we do things like that. this all day. Phew!
We had to call our playtime at the park short because I had to come home to give my friend Carrie a virtual baby bath, one of my best friends since elementary school. Carrie is being seduced by the end of the month and my friends Leah, Michaela and I have been trying to make her feel a little special from afar by sending her flowers, brunch and shower banners for the newborn and plan a virtual bath for her so she feels a little love is coming to her and her growing family. The three of us are also flying to Idaho to see her baby girl in March and I can’t wait!!!
The shower only lasted an hour but Carrie, Michaela, Leah and I stayed on video chat for almost two hours after catching up. It’s great to be able to all connect at once and definitely a highlight of my weekend! When I stepped out of our bedroom, Rhett had just woken up from a nap, Ryder was still sleeping, and Ryan, Chase, and my father-in-law were out fishing. They got home about 20 minutes after I woke Rhett and we all enjoyed the homemade chicken noodle soup that Ryan had started preparing earlier in the day. It was perfect for a cold and dreary day and we ate it with the Biscoff blondes I made for my crew.
Since the rain messed up all the afternoon plans, we gave the boys an early shower, which worked perfectly because Chase was nervously testing the buoyancy of the submarine we had put together as one. his latest installment. Science Junior delivery, a past birthday present he received from my parents.
And YES, that would be the TWO front teeth you see missing from Chase’s smile! He lost his first mid-maxillary tooth on New Year’s Eve and the next one a few days later. I cannot handle it.
After showering, we ate dinner and went through our normal bedtime routine before I headed into the office to work on the blog for a bit before going to bed with Ryan. I read a little before my eyes no longer open and called it a night.
Plans for today include some alone time as Annemarie is coming this morning to see Rhett for a few hours while the big kids are at school and then tonight I have the preschool board meeting. non for Ryder’s school. (I became a board member over the summer.) I’m especially looking forward to coffee days and work hours, and hope to make a little more of a hit on the blog post I’ve been on. coming to you soon has to do with life with three kids now. we have been 16 months.
