The King Of Fighters XV Beta test starts tonight
It’s time to blow up and dust your case and prepare for a weekend of 3v3 battles in The King of Fighters XV open beta.
Starting tonight at 7pm Pacific time and running until 7am Pacific time on November 22nd, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 owners will have the chance to practice with eight characters from the series. Final match list 39 will be available at launch. The main function of this beta will be to test online multiplayer before the game releases in a few months. For the first time, KOF will introduce netcode recovery from day one in an effort to improve the overall online experience when connecting with individuals over long distances.
This test of KOFXV will have both online and offline modes, including a training option, giving players a chance to learn character attacks and combos or workshop strategies without having to figure them out in fierce battles. A total of five modes will be available in the beta: Casual and Defense for the online section, allowing players to see what combinations and preferences will be like, while offline warriors can expect the aforementioned Coaching program as well as Versus and a guide. .
King of Fighters XV will require you to build teams of three characters to defeat one-on-one against another’s chosen trio. There’s no tagging mechanic, and you’ll only be able to play the next party member if you lose a round, so the order in which you arrange your characters will matter. Here is the list of characters available in this weekend’s beta:
- Kyo Kusanagi
- Iori Yagami
- Chizuru Kagura
- Shun’ei
- Delores
- Shermie
- Chris
- Yashiro
Each character belongs to a regular team in the story of King of Fighters, but you can mix and match them as you like. SNK has released a PDF primer file for the KOFXV beta, you can see here. It provides a basic summary of what will happen during testing and some of the issues that developers are aware of (like how throws can sometimes decode match synchronization). match).
The King of Fighters XV is scheduled to release on February 17, 2022. While this weekend’s beta only appeared on the PlayStation console, the game will eventually be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/ S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
