US employees not returning to work: data
According to the US, workers in the fields of computer science, real estate, finance and insurance experienced the greatest difficulties working from home during the first years of the pandemic, while it virtually unchanged for workers in occupations such as warehouses, truck drivers and orderers. The Census Bureau figures were released on Tuesday.
According to data from the Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP).
On the other hand, the rate increased from 97% to 96% for workers in the so-called “material transport occupations”, such as workers, truck drivers and machine operators.
Looking at all jobs in the United States, the percentage of employees working on-site fell from 84% to 74%, the survey said.
Meanwhile, the share of workers in combined jobs, i.e. those who spend some days on-site and others at home, has increased from 4% in 2020 to 6% in 2021. Among those employees, the most popular days to work from home are Mondays and Fridays, according to the survey.
The SIPP program conducts interviews with between 14,000 and 52,000 households over many years.
