There’s no rational justification for a $132,000 V-12 powered two-seater, but allow us to give it a try. What do you think of the 0 to 60 mph acceleration in 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph, both offered with utmost smoothness and courtesy? Yes, the 500SL is not much slower but much cheaper, but that’s not really the point. The point, for 600SL buyers, is to own the best. And, in the realm of Mercedes droptops, this is clearly the best.
