Edmonton Oilers roll over Penguins to clinch second in Pacific Division – Edmonton
Connor McDavid had one goal and three assists Edmonton Oilers took second place on Team Pacific with a 5-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night.
Oilers played better in the first period and took the lead before Evan Bouchard scored his 12th goal of the season.
Bouchard beat Casey DeSmith again early in the second half, but the goal was penalized after the Penguins were offside.
Jeff Carter put Pittsburgh on the board, but Evander Kane responded just 25 seconds later, receiving a pass from Kailer Yamamoto and scoring his 22nd goal.
Zach Hyman crammed a goal with power play to make it 3-1 for the Oilers just four minutes into the third half.
In another play of power, McDavid hit a shot into the far corner over DeSmith’s shoulder to score a brilliant goal. Zack Kassian added another goal against an empty net for the first time since January 15.
The Oilers, June 47-27, will host San Jose on Thursday. They will wrap up the regular season on Friday against Vancouver.
