Galawi to enter the Stud at Northview Stallion Station
Galawis , a winning son of the successful international male Dubai out of the 1st prize pool of millionaires with Americas and Europe champions Goldikova , will stand for his first season at the Northview Stallion Terminal near Chesapeake City, Md., in 2022 for $2,000 live horse, payable as the foal stands back and fosters.
A winner who retired early due to injury, 4-year-old Galawi is the pure product of a wealthy black family raised over generations by Jacques Wertheimer, and in recent decades by sons. his are Alain and Gerard Wertheimer.
Galawi had two warm-ups with placements in Chantilly, France before being sent to coach Graham Motion earlier this year. The foal impressed with his only US start as he sped from near bottom to first in the last leg of the last quarter mile race. Belmont Park yard in June 27 to win by half the length, forming three lengths. Trakus measures how long Galawi took to run his particular quarter mile in: 22.04.
Motion said: “He is stunningly handsome and has an extraordinary pedigree. “I feel he has the pedigree of a stallion. I just didn’t expect him to have to become a stallion so soon.”
Galawi, got out of Qatar Prix Vermeille Stakes (G1) in 2011 Galikova (Galileo ), who is no exception to Blushing Groom winner Born Gold, making her half-sister to five stake winners in the group, led by the aforementioned Hall of Famer Goldikova. A two-time US champion 2009-10 and champion in France four years in a row, 2008-11, Goldikova won 14 class/group 1 races, including three consecutive victories in the Breeders’ Cup Mile ( G1T) against men and four straight wins in the Prix Rothschild (G1) at Deauville.
The victorious half-brother in the group of Galikova Anodin placed second in the 2014 Breeders’ Cup Mile and selected four ranked/grouped winners. The female line led to the 1981 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (G1) winner and the purebred Gold River Jacques Wertheimer.
Galawi, is one of three sons of Dubawi standing in the United States. Dubawi has selected 219 stake winners, and has an outstanding 2021 Breeder World championship as the male of three winners—Yibir in the Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1T), Space Blues in FanDuel Breeders ‘Cup Mile by PDJF, and Modern game in Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1T).
“Grass racing takes up a lot of time in our daily races, which is only natural when crossbreeding with a horse like this,” says Motion. “There are so many more opportunities than before for horses in the grass, especially for 2- and 3-year-olds. To get close to Dubawi and close to Goldikova, it couldn’t be better.”
