Inzamam-ul-Haq Credits New Zealand but said India should pass the Kanpur test in “two sessions” on Thursday

Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq credited New Zealand’s smashers for beating on Day 5 of the first test to secure a draw but added that India should have finished matches in the first two sessions on Monday. India has 9 ping pong balls in New Zealand but the partnership between all-rounder Rachin Ravindra and No. 11 Ajaz Patel, spanned 52 balls, deny them a victory in Kanpur. Inzamam said that India was an unlucky one but they would be very disappointed not to throw the ball to visitors on Thursday’s track with three spinners – Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin and Axaar Patel by their side.

“India will be very disappointed. I don’t think New Zealand can make it through Day 5 before this onslaught of Indian bowling. India should have beaten them. Jadeja hit the shuttle well with her four rackets. but I expect more from all of them.

“I really believe the match should have ended in the first two sessions. I also said this after Day 4 that this match would be over in the first two sessions of the last day,” Inzamam said. Youtube Channel.

The former right-hander, who also served as Pakistan’s chief selection after retiring, said pursuing the goal of running 284 was never an option for New Zealand.

“Not sure if we should give credit to New Zealand or call India unlucky. It was clear that even yesterday New Zealand couldn’t win the match because they won’t be able to chase the score ( 284) However, I did anticipate that there would be some wear and tear on Thursday and the like [Ravindra] Jadeja and [Axar] Patel wouldn’t let the players play the ball because the ball would spin but that didn’t happen,” he added.

However, Inzamam praised the New Zealand smashers for showing admirable patience against the Indian crank in the final day match.

“I feel like New Zealand should be credited for hitting the ball all day on this court. New Zealand beat as a team. Whoever comes on the court to hit the ball in the middle, put a price on your racquet. Their minds are clear, they want Inzamam to speak.

The two sides will meet again in the second and final Test in Mumbai starting December 3.
