Mercedes-Benz asks 17,687 Australian owners to ‘stop driving’ immediately
Mercedes-Benz Australia remembering 17,687 example of ML-Class, GL-Class and R-Class due to a problem with the brake booster fitted

A Mercedes-Benz spokesman said affected cars should not be driven until they have been checked by a Mercedes-Benz service center, which, depending on the service center, will dispatch a technician. come see you or arrange a tow truck.
The company said in its recall notice: “The tightness of the brake booster may decrease due to corrosion.
“Corrosion can lead to brake booster leaks and reduced brake performance. In the case of very severe corrosion, hard braking can damage the brake booster resulting in reduced brake performance.”

Mercedes-Benz service center technicians will conduct a visual inspection of the affected vehicles and if there are signs of “pre-corrosion” they will perform a guided diagnostic check. If the brake booster does not pass the test, you will have to replace it.
Until the affected parts are replaced, the company said it will arrange an alternative shipping solution free of charge.
