Mugen Custom Honda Civic Type R, ZR-V will be available at Tokyo Auto Salon
- We don’t know much about custom Mugen CHEAP Honda Civic Still not—have to save something for the upcoming Tokyo Auto Salon—but images of the specialized Honda tuning ZR-V have been released.
- The photos depict what is basically a hybrid HR VUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU with some accents and a black spoiler, four-pipe exhaust pipes and a revised fender.
- Mugen will also display racing vehicles and technology from the All-Japan Super Formula Championship series.
Honda fans who want a little extra embellishment on their small crossover will want to check out the two modified cars that Japanese tuner Mugen will bring to Tokyo Auto Salon 2023 next month.
We don’t yet know the details of the Honda Civic Type R that Mugen will bring to Tokyo, as that reveal is being saved for the show. But Mugen showed pictures of the custom ZR-V (similar to the HR-V in North America) that will be available at the same show as SEMA in Japan.
The Mugen ZR-V is called the “ZR-V e:HEV Mugen Custom Concept” and it has been updated with a revised front fascia, larger side panels and an unusual rear door-mounted spoiler located on the side. next to the Honda badge. Mugen also added black design decals around the bottom of the crossover, black side mirror caps, small black trims on the bottom rear corners, and custom wheels. These changes are said to represent what Mugen calls “Emotional Urban Sports” (according to Google Translate).
a little silly
Since Mugen’s theme for Tokyo Auto Salon is “Mugen Power 2023”, it will also bring two race cars from the All Japan Super Formula Championship. Mugen will also display the telemetry system it uses for these races, allowing “a new way to view motorsport,” the company said.
The images that Mugen has released of his custom ZR-V show a blue Honda badge and the company’s e:HEV logo, which means the tuner has done its job on a ZR-V with a hybrid powertrain. Even so, Mugen decided that a four-pipe exhaust system was appropriate. Whether changes like these will actually make the HR-V look more appealing is a matter of debate. When Mugen launched an HR-V in 2021, Top Gear wondered if “the difference between barking and biting [was].”
Tokyo Auto Salon takes place January 13-15 at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba, near Tokyo.
