My Favorite Things Friday #399
Chase and Ryder started back to school on Tuesday and seemed excited to see their teachers and friends again. (Rhett loves the freedom to control all the toys in the house and the mother’s attention to each one!) After two weeks of brother’s non-stop play, I think a little bit of separation between the three boys. was a good thing and now we’re trying to find our groove again. For the upcoming weekend, our agenda is very open. I’m sure we’ll fill the coming days with some family fun and I hope to have a recap of the weekend to share with you guys on Monday.
Before I pull the plug a bit over the next few days, I wanted to dig into my weekly favorite, the Friday I Love! Let’s do it!
My favorite things on Friday
Sixteen months later and Rhett’s baby book is done! I set myself a deadline to finish Rhett’s baby book by Christmas because I gave Ryan our son’s books for Christmas next year when they were all one year old. (although this is really a gift for all of us) and know it. he’ll also be excited to flip through Rhett’s on Christmas morning. (Boys’ infant books record pictures from their newborn days to their first birthdays.) I love that Rhett got it all done and looking back on memories from that first year. His will take me back to that crazy time in our lives. I’ve used Mixbook for all my boys’ books and stick with this recommendation because they make picture books easy and have lots of nice, simple, and not cheesy themes. In case you are looking for a picture book for you or your family, this referral link Will give us both $25 off our next order + $50.
My first book recommendation of 2022 is here! I downloaded this book on my Kindle after seeing Gina featured it on her blog and read it this week. I liked the second half of the book better than the first but think it’s a good read overall, especially if you’re looking for a beach read without a beach. The author also incorporated some kind of surprise into the novel which has more depth than the usual novels read.
Perfect eight o’clock begins with a sudden blizzard that blocks a highway and causes the chance meeting of Noelle and Sam, two thirty-year-olds who have spent eight wonderful hours together before breaking up. They leave without exchanging numbers but somehow continue to cross paths, making Noelle wonder if the universe is telling her something.
My Ninja Foodi broke a month ago (Rhett pulled the lid off and it cracked and won’t seal anymore) so I had to look at my pressure cooker situation and assess what I wanted in the future. future. I love my Ninja Foodi and have been using it for years but I’m a bit disappointed by the fact that the large grill lid doesn’t separate, meaning I can’t pressure cook/slow cook underneath my cabinet me. This time, I chose Instant Pot Pro Crisp 8 Quart . Pressure Cooker because it comes with two interchangeable caps and it does basically everything! The reviews are amazing and I can already see why! I love it and find it easy to use and not as bulky as expected for such a large machine.
I was also recently given Instant Vortex Air Fryer to add to our stock of kitchen equipment. I’m not sure if it gets much use as the Instant Pot Pro Crip also air fryers but I LOVED this so much! It makes frying vegetables, salmon, chicken nuggets etc a breeze and I’ve been using it almost every day since it came out. I like its smaller profile (very countertop-friendly) and its no-nonsense approach to air frying. I find that I am switching to this instead of the oven as it preheats in almost no time. I also love how easy it cleans (I just need to quickly rinse the nonstick basket) and the guys even happily “helped” me with this. Apparently I can even use it to bake sweets so it’s next on my list of things to try with my new air fryer.
We’re basically the number one Instacart fans in our house these days but on Sunday we took a family trip to Whole Foods to replace some items that I just can be found at Whole Foods and buy some groceries for the week. Chase and Ryder love the seafood counter because they think it’s cool to see the whole fish on the rocks but Chase surprised us all when he said he’d like to try some oysters and clams. I would never call Chase an “adventurous eater” so I have to admit that I am extremely intrigued by the fact that he enjoys trying something so far out of his usual comfort zone. (Perhaps there’s some Florida genes out there?) We leave with a bag of fresh clams and Ryan prepares them in a large pot with butter, white wine, and garlic – he fumbles along. this recipe – and we LOVE them! Ryder ate one and said it was enough for him but Chase and Rhett both ate a bunch! Rhett said, “Mo! Mo! ” (“More”) over and over. My seafood-loving heart soars!
