A new update to Deathloop has been released and it dramatically changes the way players make decisions from time to time, both in terms of how they deal with NPCs as well as invasions from Julianna.
Game Update 2 (as big as Game Update 1) brings a host of changes to many of the game’s systems along with bug fixes and fixes. The two most notable changes coming to Deathloop following this update are that NPCs are now a lot smarter and Colt will have a harder time avoiding Julianna during an invasion, as reported by Digital Trends.
“Game Update 2 improves NPC response and patting, clarity and UI, sound mix quality, and more,” Bethesda’s blog post about updates read. “It also adds controller remapping as well as field of view and motion blur controls to the PS5.”
Regarding NPC behavior, here are the changes currently in the game:
- NPCs now react to bullets passing by, such as missed headshots
- NPCs now react when another person is assassinated nearby
- NPCs now hear better and react faster to nearby bumps
- Shot NPCs no longer move to hide if the player gets too close
- NPCs can now deduce the direction to throw the grenade
- NPCs no longer stop trying to kill Colt if Julianna uses the Nexus to link him to them
- Uninterrupted aerial assassinations will no longer render NPCs nearly invulnerable
- Many other minor fixes and improvements to NPC behavior, reactions, pats, and placement
- Charlie Montague is no longer stuck in the floor or the ground if he is kicked while using Shift
Regarding the new invasion changes, here’s what you can expect:
- Colt quit that game now seen as a win for player-controller Julianna
- AI-driven Julianna is now more responsive to Colt .’s actions
- The antenna that Colt had to hack to get out now takes longer to hack
- Tagged AFK players
- Colt players that linger in Colt’s tunnel for too long are automatically tagged and that causes the tunnel door to open.
- Higher chance you will hack players in your Friends list while they are playing in “Online Mode”
- Strelak Sapper Fees due to NPCs that Julianna attacked will no longer generate false Colt cards for Julianna
- Players now properly hear audio responses from enemy players during melee
- Strelak Sapper Charges will now stick to Julianna just like other NPCs
Other notable changes include the ability to remap buttons, reverse the club, and new options that allow players to adjust field of view and motion blur.
