It seems like polarizing sequels that retreat on features from their previous games are in vogue. Afterward call of duty Battlefield 2.0 promises a few tweaks to make the game feel more like the first, precaution 2 is now joining in on the fun of reversing the changes that have greatly displeased fans.
Player frustration over the availability of skins and cosmetics locked behind a fee wall has been evident since launch, and now precaution 2 is aiming to make the hero’s fashion choices a little easier in season three. But don’t get too excited; Things are a little more complicated than that.
With the move to the free-to-play format, precaution 2 hasn’t easily satisfied the community the series has built since 2016. Battle passes, meager service from seasonal events, it’s just awful precaution 2 the store holds all the fun stuff hostage, and fundamental changes to the game like switching to 5v5 matches instead of the original’s six-player skirmishes have plagued this new generation of games guard.
But with a recent blog update, Blizzard is reintroducing Overwatch Credits as an add-on to Overwatch Coins, the premium currency carried over from the original game priced at real money. While the Credits are attractive on paper (and certainly sought after), the ambiguity surrounding the specifics makes this seem like two steps forward, one and a half steps back.

“In season [three], we’re bringing the Overwatch Credits back,” said the season two autopsy blog yesterday. These credits are a modification of Legacy Credits, the earnable currency that was moved from precaution 1. Early game players likely already have some of these, but there’s no way to earn more of them in the future. precaution 2; so if you’re new to the series or don’t have access to an old account, you’re basically out of luck. That changes with season three as Legacy Credits are being converted into Overwatch Credits for everyone. The post states: “All players can now earn up to 1500 credits as a free bonus and another 500 credits as a premium bonus spread throughout the Season. [three] Battle Card.”

While the ability to earn credits to acquire skins sure sounds like a welcome change, it comes with a twist that many are feels a bit uncomfortable. After the third drop, these reintroduced credits only seem to be useful in exchange for “epic and legendary level skins before precaution 2 launcher.” The free credits sound fun, but the enthusiasm fades when you realize these are just old skins from the first game.
Additionally, the credits are tied to the Battle Pass, which can only reward up to 2,000 of them in a season. With the math that Blizzard has rolled out in this update, that means you can earn a new legendary skin every season. And I shouldn’t say “new”, because we’re talking about the word interface precaution 1. The blog says that Blizzard will be exploring future uses for Overwatch Credits. For now, their use is welcome, but there is still a lack of clarity.
Therefore, Good news: It seems that disappointment in cosmetics and skin availability and pricing is being heard. The bad news: A solution to this is being provided in a very specific way that doesn’t necessarily address ongoing concerns for newer interfaces such as unattractive and too many newer ones are only available for purchase with real money. And on top of that, the skins you can earn for free through credits are from the first game.
