McDaniel, in particular, blamed the Democrats and lack of repudiation on those who wanted violence against the Republican Party.
“You can’t say people who say ‘Fire Pelosi,’ or ‘Take back the house,’ say ‘Let’s do violence.’ It’s just not fair. I think we all need to realize that violence is widespread,” she said. “But I think the other thing to remember is, if this isn’t Paul Pelosi, this criminal could be out on the streets tomorrow. We saw attacker Lee Zeldin on the street shortly after he attacked him. This is what the policies of the Democratic Party are delivering.”
While McDaniel references parts of parcel story, she omits mentions of other aspects of the story, including how the GOP’s portrayal of Nancy Pelosi alludes to violence against her and how anti-Pelosy memes on the far-right range often include threats threaten violence.
The story also notes that, of the issues covered in the 2022 candidates’ ad campaigns, Pelosi is fifth with nearly $40 million spent on ads featuring her. She ranks below taxes, President Joe Biden, and inflation, but she ranks above immigration, a once traditional GOP view.
