Talking Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City with two of the movie’s stars
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City hits theaters next week on November 24, this is probably one of the more exciting video game movies ever released. Not in an autobiographical or stylistic way, but in the shoes it has to fill. Welcome to Raccoon City is a complete reimagining of the world of Resident Evil for the big screen, following Paul WS Anderson’s Resident Evil series, which screened six films, grossing over a billion dollars in box office receipts.
Where Anderson took the Resident Evil source material and created his own sci-fi universe, Welcome to Raccoon City – directed by Johannes Roberts (47 meters down, The Strangers: Prey at Night) – a lot closer than the first two games in the series. It leads to a much more grounded story, focusing on characters that fans have known for decades.
Ahead of the movie’s release next week, we sat down with the film’s two stars, Tom Hopper and Avan Jogia, who play Albert Wesker and Leon Kennedy, to talk about co-leading the new Resident Evil series Here, their favorite moments from filming and where they found inspiration for their characters.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City will hit theaters on November 24, 2021.
