The minister of Andhra Pradesh is away
Andhra Pradesh Industry Minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy passed away from a heart attack on Monday morning at a private hospital in Hyderabad. He was 50 years old.
Mr Reddy was taken to Apollo Hospital after he collapsed at his home, where he was pronounced dead.
“He suddenly collapsed at home. He arrived at our emergency room at 07:45 a.m. and was unresponsive, breathing, and cardiac arrest on arrival,” the hospital said in a statement.
The minister returned to Hyderabad a few days ago after spending 10 days in Dubai, where the Andhra Pradesh Ministry of Industry set up a booth during the ongoing Dubai Expo to attract investment in the state.
He also holds the Information Technology portfolio.
Expressing “deep shock and grief” at Mr Reddy’s untimely passing, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in a statement offered condolences to bereaved members.
Mr. Reddy is the son of former MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy. He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
