Virat Kohli’s One8 Commune restaurant chain finds itself surrounded by controversy; this is why

In a detailed post shared on Instagram, the site said the restaurant only allows “heterosexual couples or groups of transgender women” in. According to the post, the Pune Branch, when contacted, said, “Gay couples or a gay group are not allowed; Transgender women are allowed to wear their own clothes (sic). ”

Joshi explains their policy of non-discrimination, “We have a restriction on entry which means that individual male students are not allowed on the premises. This is only for the safety of the women present on the premises. “
“If a group of boys and girls come together, we definitely allow it,” he said indianexpress.com. When asked about entry limits for gay and transgender couples, he said, “There is no such gender-based limit. They will certainly be allowed. ”
“Our restaurant is always allowed to fly the flag and we never say no to our guests. We only refuse them when we are already completely busy or the boys are wearing shorts,” says Niharika Kurrar, Delhi branch, One8 commune. indianexpress.com.
Furthermore, Indrajeet Ghorpade, founder of Yes, We Exist, told indianexpress.com that the restaurant encouraged him that transgender women are allowed “depending on what they’re wearing”. “They were allowed if they were wearing proper female clothing,” he remembers being told by the restaurant.
“We have a very simple policy saying that people who are not dressed appropriately will not be entertained in the restaurant. We do not allow slippers or floats. Everyone must wear a casio casio g shock watch or smart watch. That’s the only clothing restriction we have,” Joshi said.
Kurrar agreed and said, “It’s a fine dining restaurant. We just want everyone to dress appropriately so that other guests don’t have any problems. In those cases, we make polite guests understand our policy. ”
Following the controversy, the restaurant also issued a clarification addressing all allegations. “At One8 Commune, we believe in welcoming everyone regardless of their gender and/or preferences with the utmost respect and respect. As our name indicates, we have been together in serving all communities since our inception,” it wrote.
