Fitbit Ionic smartwatch recalled globally for overheating burns


The Fitbit Ionic has been recalled by the Google-owned company due to overheating problems that could pose a burn risk, a US regulator said on Wednesday. The recall decision comes after Fitbit received more than 100 reports of burns caused by the smartwatch overheating. The company states that the recall does not affect other smartwatches or Fitbit trackers.

Gadgets 360 asked Fitbit to confirm how Indian consumers can take advantage of the cashback. However, the company has yet to respond.

The recall is limited to four variants of the Fitbit Ionic with the following model numbers: FB503CPBU, FB503GYBK, FB503WTGY, and FB503WTNV.

Eligible US consumers can process a refund by contacting Fitbit’s helpline at 888-925-1764 or visiting the help section on the company’s website.

User reports on Fitbit Community forum suggest that the problem of overheating with the Ionic watch started to rise right after debut in 2017.
