Horse racing fans will participate in the traditional helping of graded bets on Thursday at both Churchill Downs and the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club. Coast-to-coast Level III gatherings include a dirt and grass race at GIII Falls City S. and GIII Cardinal S. before heading west to Jimmy Durante Lawn for the GIII S Red Carpet.
Into Mischief’s Play Hard the Favorite in Falls City
With just six draws for the City of Falls under Twin Spires, it’s no wonder that coach Phil Bauer has the upper hand with the deserving favorites. play hard (Into Adversity). Once again, the daughter of superhero Spendthrift is respected after winning the GIII Locust Grove S. on the track on September 17, and the 4-year-old followed that up with a previous third-place attempt. formidable opponents ‘TDN’s Rising Star’ Malathaat (make for curly). Her bloodline represents a strong male, but her Well Lived (Tiznow) dam not only has a background as Horse of the Year, but her full brother Well-equipped is also human. multi-class I win.
Sodbusters Bring to Matt Winn
Matt Winn Lawn will be back in action in November after a controversial summer and fall. New grass ready? The question will go its way. A staple this time of year is the GIII Cardinal S. Not to be missed, this 10 field consists of older women who will scramble for nine feathers. The Al Stall, Jr. intern. Dalika (Ger) (Pastorius {Ger}) is the only millionaire earner of the bunch, and with over 30 recorded starts, she arrived in Churchill from Keeneland after finishing Friday on Nov. 5 in the Fall Harvest S. a mile long, presented by the Mint Game Hall. Stretching out nine miles seemed to work in her favor. The last time she took this course, she won the GI Beverly DS. August 13, passing Princess Grace (Karakontie {Jpn}) right before the string.
Others who will oppose her include the morning lover at 9-5, the breeder Godolphin adventure (Pioneers of the Nile). Well bred because the field doesn’t have a Seeking champion (GB) (Spin hard), the chubby 4-year-old was most recently seen in the GI EP Taylor S. at Woodbine on October 8. where she lost her lead in the segment and was eventually moved up to one spot behind Moira’s DQ. (Ghostzapper). Controlling the fractions first will be the key to her success. A longer shot across the board worth watching is Eddie Kenneally’s 5 year old mare Curly Ruth (make for curly). Her tactical ability can be an asset in a race like this, especially if the speed drops. In addition to Rutherienne (Pulpit), she will be looking to improve her poor performance against the talented Bleecker Street (Quality Sugar) in GIII Modesty S. on the card under Kentucky Oaks May 6.
Green stretches on the red carpet
The 11-feathered turf test will challenge this collection of fillings and a mare. The cameraman in this batch is a Purebred Partner of Eclipse Ms. Otoole (Prince {Ire} of Amira), a 5-year-old child from O’ Toole. Trained by Graham Motion, her experience during 18 starts, including her third run against Temple City Terror in GIII Rood and Riddle Dowager S., earned her a distinct advantage in this area as 5–2 morning favorites.
Confronting her was a 4-year-old boy equal to American Pharoah competed in six different races over the past year. maybug cared for by Jack Sisterson, but now the Calumet hybrid has moved into Eoin Harty’s cage. Routing on the court with some solid opponents, she’ll need to take a step forward after finishing fifth in the GI Rodeo Drive S. in Santa Anita on October 8.
Another entry to scrutinize is by Mark Glatt Bellstreet Bride (GB) (Sir Percy {GB}), a chubby 3-year-old girl making her debut in the state. She has made nine starts this year for coach Michael Bell, but the main question she has to answer is class. At the launch of the stakes, she will have to increase her game significantly for her new skin.
